First-year Drive for Diversity participant Emily Sue Steck scored her second feature win of the season on Saturday at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wis. Steck, driving the No. 6 DMT Motorsports Chevrolet, held off veteran Steve Carlson and his son, Mike, for the win.

“The DMT Motorsports team did an awesome job getting my car ready for tonight’s race,” said Steck. “We were able to come out and win our heat race and the invert gave us great track position to start the feature. In a 25-lap feature, track position is so important and that was key for us tonight. It’s great to come away with another win!”

Steck started third in her heat race after qualifying 10th of 22 cars. She won the eight-lap heat and was confident she had a car capable of running up front all night. After a 12-car invert, Steck found herself starting third for the main event.

The race started with several early cautions, and Steck was able to work her way to the front and overtake the leader.

Steve Carlson, the 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion, had moved into the third position after racing his way from the tail end of the pack. For the last ten laps of the race it was a three-car battle for the lead. Mike Carlson stayed stuck to the back bumper of Steck while trying to shake Steve Carlson, who was on his bumper. Neither Mike nor Steve Carlson had enough to overtake Steck, who held on for her second win of the season.
